Fenugreek+ 1400mg Capsules for Men & Women, 60 Count Review

Fenugreek+ 1400mg Capsules for Men & Women, 60 Count, is a premium dietary supplement from VH Nutrition, meticulously formulated to harness the multifaceted benefits of *Trigonella foenum-graecum*, commonly known as fenugreek. This potent supplement delivers 1400mg of fenugreek extract powder per serving, derived from the seeds of this clover-like herb, which is indigenous to Western Asia and the Mediterranean region. Designed for both men and women, these easy-to-swallow capsules aim to provide comprehensive support for hormonal balance, metabolic health, and overall well-being. The efficacy of Fenugreek+ stems from the naturally occurring phytonutrients within the fenugreek plant, particularly its rich concentration of soluble fiber, saponins, and the unique amino acid 4-hydroxyisoleucine. Saponin glycosides, a key bioactive compound, are believed to induce a positive feedback system on hormone levels, which can significantly influence libido, energy, and exercise endurance. For men, this mechanism is thought to support testosterone production, potentially leading to improvements in muscle strength, anabolism, body fat percentage, and sexual function, including an increased frequency of morning erections. In women, fenugreek has been observed to influence hormonal balance by boosting both testosterone and estradiol levels, which can translate to enhanced sexual desire and function. Furthermore, it is traditionally recognized for its galactagogue properties, making it a popular choice for breastfeeding mothers seeking to naturally increase their milk supply. Beyond its hormonal implications, Fenugreek+ plays a crucial role in metabolic regulation. The amino acid 4-hydroxyisoleucine is instrumental in blood sugar management by enhancing insulin sensitivity and stabilizing glucose levels. Additionally, fenugreek's ability to inhibit alpha-amylases, enzymes involved in carbohydrate digestion, helps reduce the absorption of glucose, thereby supporting healthy blood sugar metabolism. This can also contribute to appetite control and may even act as an appetite stimulant for those experiencing loss of appetite. The supplement also offers potential benefits for women experiencing menopausal symptoms, with studies suggesting it may help reduce hot flashes, sweats, improve mood, and support restful sleep. Its anti-inflammatory properties may also provide relief from general aches and pains. VH Nutrition ensures high quality by using 3rd party tested, FDA GRAS ingredients, and manufacturing all products in a GMP-certified facility in the USA.

This product gives 1400 mg of fenugreek extract a day, well above the 500 to 600 mg used in most studies. In a placebo-controlled trial of 120 healthy men aged 43 to 70, 600 mg a day for 12 weeks improved sexual function, including morning erections and how often men had sex, and raised testosterone [1]. Another placebo-controlled trial of 60 men aged 25 to 52 found that 600 mg a day of a fenugreek and mineral product for 6 weeks improved libido, especially arousal and orgasm [2]. Two studies without a placebo group, in 100 and 50 men taking 500 mg daily for 12 weeks, also reported better libido [3][4]. Not all results agree. A placebo-controlled trial of 95 men aged 40 to 80 taking 600 to 1800 mg for 12 weeks found no effect on libido, and blood testosterone did not rise significantly [5]. A review pooling 13 placebo-controlled trials found only a small rise in total testosterone, rated the evidence very uncertain, and did not pool sexual function results [6]. Overall, most studies point to some benefit for male libido, but the strongest recent trial did not confirm it. Animal and cell studies are never counted.

MembersWhat buyers say

Customer feedback for Fenugreek+ 1400mg Capsules reveals several recurring qualitative themes, highlighting both its perceived benefits and some common drawbacks. A significant number of users, particularly breastfeeding mothers, consistently praise the supplement for its effectiveness in increasing milk supply, often describing it as a reliable aid for lactation. Many individuals also report positive changes in hormonal balance, with men noting improvements in testosterone levels, energy, and libido, while women frequently mention enhanced sexual desire and function. Users managing blood sugar levels, including those with diabetes, often commend the product for its perceived ability to help regulate glucose and support healthy metabolism. Furthermore, some customers have experienced relief from general aches and pains, attributing this to the supplement's anti-inflammatory properties. The product's quality and the ease of swallowing the capsules are also frequently cited as positive aspects. An interesting, albeit subjective, observation by some users is that fenugreek can impart a distinctive, often pleasant, maple syrup or coconut oil-like aroma to sweat and urine, which some consider a unique and even desirable side effect. However, the customer experience is not universally positive, with several recurring complaints and side effects. Gastrointestinal issues are a prominent concern, with many users reporting upset stomach, increased gas, and in some cases, severe diarrhea, leading them to discontinue use. Headaches are another frequently mentioned adverse reaction. Some individuals, despite being able to consume fenugreek in food without issue, find that the concentrated supplement form causes discomfort or negative reactions. There are also instances where users report no noticeable effects from the supplement, leading to disappointment. For those with specific dietary preferences, the use of animal-derived gelatin in the capsules has been a point of contention for customers seeking strictly plant-based options. Additionally, a cautionary theme emerges regarding potential interactions, with some users noting that the supplement did not work well in conjunction with meds. Breastfeeding mothers with pre-term infants are advised to exercise caution, as fenugreek has been noted to potentially lower heart rate in pre-term babies.

Biohacker Summary

Members5 of 10 recommend it
5 of 10 biohackers on our panel recommend it

Six of the ten panelists spoke about fenugreek, the main ingredient, and they are split: three recommend it, two warn, and one is neutral. Those who recommend it mostly take it for blood sugar and insulin, with one adding period pain and inflammation, and others mentioning libido and testosterone. For forms, one suggests capsules or tea, another soaking the seeds overnight and eating them before meals, and one prefers an extract; no one gave a capsule dose. The warnings are that fenugreek does not do enough for testosterone to be worth taking for it or for muscle building, and one panelist said it made him feel revved up and overly wired. One panelist who had been neutral noted that apple cider vinegar beat it for lowering fasting blood sugar, and no one named a supplement they pair it with.
