RepHresh Pro-B Review

The repHresh Pro-B™ Vaginal Probiotic Supplement is presented on its product page as a daily oral probiotic intended to balance yeast and bacteria and help maintain vaginal health. The page headline reads Balance Vaginal Yeast & Bacteria to Maintain Feminine Health. The product is described as a daily capsule containing clinically tested lactobacillus strains, intended to help the user feel fresh and confident. The page lists four key claims. It states the product is clinically tested to balance yeast and bacteria. It states the product contains 5 billion beneficial bacteria per serving. It instructs users to take just one capsule per day orally. It states the formula is vegan, non-GMO and gluten free. The page explains that lactobacillus, yeast and other bacteria are naturally present in the body, and that optimum vaginal health depends on a healthy balance of these elements. It says Pro-B contains clinically tested lactobacillus strains that have been shown to help balance yeast and bacteria, and that it is designed to help maintain vaginal flora in a normal range. A frequently asked questions section names two specific strains found in Pro-B, L. rhamnosus GR-1 and L. reuteri RC-14, and says clinical studies have shown they help maintain vaginal flora. The page says the product was formulated by doctors at the Canadian Research and Development Centre for Probiotics. It states that clinical studies show the product starts to work within 7 days. The page clarifies that Pro-B is not intended to treat yeast infections, and that users with symptoms such as itching or persistent odor should consult a doctor. The page also compares Pro-B with repHresh Odor Eliminating Vaginal Gel. The gel is described as balancing pH and is inserted directly into the vagina, while Pro-B is described as a probiotic taken orally to support beneficial bacteria. The page advises consulting the package insert for full instructions for use.

This product contains a probiotic blend listed in the store as L. rhamnosus GR-1 and L. reuteri RC-14, but the label does not give the amounts, so the dose cannot be compared with any study. None of the studies we have tested these two strains. A large review pooling 39 studies of women around and after menopause found probiotics in general eased overall menopause symptoms, hot flashes, mood symptoms and vaginal dryness, but not body or sexual symptoms, and many of those studies had quality concerns [1]. A trial of a heat-treated Lactobacillus gasseri product helped 75% of women with menopause symptoms compared with 55% on placebo [2]. A daily Lactobacillus acidophilus capsule improved sexual function and menopause quality of life over 8 weeks [3]. Lactobacillus paragasseri improved premenstrual mood in younger women [4]. Probiotics combined with isoflavones reduced hot flushes in two trials [5][6], but the isoflavones may explain much of that effect. Because these results come from different strains, they cannot be assumed to apply to this product. Animal and cell studies are never counted.

Across the stores that sell it, RepHresh Pro-B carries about 5,529 ratings, and the feedback is largely positive. Buyers mostly describe a daily capsule that helps with vaginal pH balance and recurring problems, with price the main complaint. **What buyers say it did for them:** The most common theme is steadier pH balance and fewer recurring problems. One reviewer who had BV twice in a year says it is "working for me" and that they wanted to avoid meds. They also report help with moisture, especially after menstruation. Another reports monthly UTIs that stopped: "I haven't had one since I've been on this!!!" A third says "I do feel like it has helped balance out the Ph." One reviewer says a fishy odor disappeared. Others offer short praise such as "Works well" and "These supplements save my life!" Several note they had tried other brands without success before this one. Store summaries mention taking it daily for roughly three to six months. **What they complain about:** Cost is the main complaint. A three-month user says "I just wish it wasn't so expensive" and may try cheaper products. One buyer gave 1 star over delivery, not effectiveness: five boxes arrived with an October 2021 expiry date after being ordered in July. The reviewer felt it was unacceptable to receive nearly expired stock. That is a single report about shipping, and it says nothing about how the capsules perform. **Taste, smell, pill size or form:** The reviews say little about this. The only related comment is the one about odor disappearing, which concerns the user's own scent, not the capsule. One reviewer mentions taking one tablet per day as directed. Another says they use the capsules together with the brand's vaginal gel. Nothing in the reviews describes capsule size or any aftertaste. This summary covers the capsules only, and any reviews of other forms were left out. **Value for money:** Buyers who are happy with the results still find it pricey. The 3-month user says they know of other products "that offer the same qualities" for less, though they plan to keep using this one for now. The reviewer who reordered a second time seemed to find it worth buying again after the results. The buyer who ordered five boxes for a five-month course shows some people commit to it long term, which makes checking expiry dates on delivery worthwhile. **Who it seems to suit and who it did not:** It seems to suit women looking for a daily probiotic to support pH balance and cut down on recurrent BV, yeast problems or UTIs, especially those who want to avoid repeated meds. It also appeals to people who want to pair it with the brand's gel. Those who did not do well with it are hard to identify, as the reviews are nearly all positive and short, with little detail on dosing or timing. The one unhappy buyer was dissatisfied with the shipment, not the product. Anyone on a tight budget may want to compare prices before committing to a months-long course.

Biohacker Summary

Members Only8 of 10 recommend it
8 of 10 biohackers on our panel recommend it

Six of the ten panelists spoke about probiotics, the main ingredient here, and the panel leans positive, though several comments were neutral notes about other products. Most of the supportive voices point to one synbiotic, a probiotic and prebiotic in a single capsule, which they take for gut health, less bloating and gas, better regularity, and in one case clearer skin within about 4 days. One panelist suggests taking it a couple of hours apart from fermented foods, another uses strains chosen from a gut test, and another cites links between gut bacteria and mood. One panelist cautions that some strains lower histamine while others can make it worse, so strain choice matters, and another notes that some blends contain strains that do not produce histamine. No doses were given, and nobody said they stopped taking a probiotic.

RAL Summary

Members OnlyTier 4 for Hormone Balance for Women

The study support behind the tier comes from other probiotic strains (Lactobacillus gasseri, acidophilus, paragasseri and isoflavone combinations), not the L. rhamnosus GR-1 and L. reuteri RC-14 strains in this product, so it has no direct study support for this goal. So it is graded Tier 4, lower than the rules alone gave.

  • Emerging: not enough evidence to rank higher yet.
  • Probiotic strains: amount hidden in a blend

Where the evidence disagrees: 7 of the 21 human studies found no effect.

Body systems: Reproductive system, Immune system, Urinary system

Combine with: For its true purpose of vaginal and urogenital health, Pro-B pairs well with D-mannose or cranberry proanthocyanidins for urinary tract support, vitamin D3 and zinc for mucosal immune function, and a prebiotic fiber such as inulin or partially hydrolyzed guar gum to nourish beneficial lactobacilli. Boric acid or other topical measures should only be used under clinician guidance. If the user still wants genuine cellular and DNA repair support, they should use separate products such as NAD+ precursors (nicotinamide riboside or NMN), trans-resveratrol, quercetin, CoQ10 or ubiquinol, and omega-3 fatty acids, after consulting a healthcare provider.

Possible side effects: No major side effects reported.
