Chasteberry has good evidence for easing premenstrual symptoms. Pooling three placebo-controlled trials in 520 women, those taking chasteberry were 2.57 times more likely to have their premenstrual symptoms go into remission [1]. In a trial of 170 women over three cycles, 52% on chasteberry had their symptoms cut by at least half, compared with 24% on placebo [2]. A trial of 162 women found 20 mg a day of an extract worked better than placebo, while 30 mg added nothing more [3]. Another trial of 217 women saw benefit at 40 mg a day with no serious side effects [4]. Pooling six trials in 718 women, chasteberry also eased cyclic breast pain over about three months [5]. One larger analysis of 14 trials warned that the studies were often biased and varied widely, so the benefit is probably overstated [6]. The studies used concentrated extracts at 20 to 40 mg a day. This product is 500 mg of whole fruit powder, so its strength cannot be directly compared with the doses that were studied [3]. Animal and cell studies are never counted.

Feedback on this exact GNC capsule is thin, so the themes come from broader chasteberry/Vitex user reviews, which include a few GNC users. WebMD's pooled Vitex reviews show a positive overall leaning, with an average around 4.1 out of 5. The main praise is for PMS relief. Users describe reduced breast tenderness, less depression and irritability, and calmer premenstrual weeks. One reviewer who took about 400 mg daily for two months said it helped with breast tenderness and low mood. Several women say they chose it after reading other people's positive reviews. Some report cycle regulation, including one who hadn't had a period for months and began tracking ovulation after starting it. Others say it helps only after a few months, so patience is a recurring theme. Many people also like having a single-ingredient, free-from-allergens herbal option instead of a hormonal prescription. Complaints are more varied and often tied to side effects or unexpected hormonal effects. A few users, including GNC users at 500–1000 mg a day, describe unwanted changes. One man reported that it suppressed his libido, along with intermittent genital discomfort and numbness or cramping in the feet and legs. Another man said he used it on purpose to curb libido and that it worked quickly. Some users believe it caused weight gain. Others mention irregular bleeding or changed cycles, or that it didn't work at all for their symptoms. People worry about dosing: many take 1000 mg a day, which is twice the label serving for this product, and few know whether that is appropriate. Practical comments centre on the lack of standardization. Because this is a whole-herb powder, people can't tell how strong it is compared with extract products. Pill size and taste rarely come up. The overall picture is of a supplement that many women find helpful for PMS-type symptoms if they give it time, that can disrupt hormones in some people, and that has little GNC-specific feedback online.
Biohacker Summary
Members Only5 of 10 recommend it
Four of the ten panelists spoke about chasteberry, the main ingredient, and all four recommend it. The most common reason is hormone support for women: premenstrual symptoms, progesterone, a regular menstrual cycle, hot flashes, and fertility and egg quality. One panelist also suggests it for getting estrogen up, taking it alongside DHEA, and another says it helps balance hormones in both men and women. No one gave a dose or a preferred form, and no one reported a caution or said they stopped taking it.

Body systems: Reproductive system, Endocrine system
Combine with: For its actual purpose of women's hormonal balance, Vitex pairs well with magnesium glycinate (PMS cramping, mood and sleep), vitamin B6 as pyridoxal-5-phosphate (premenstrual mood and progesterone support), and omega-3 fish oil (menstrual discomfort and inflammation). Calcium with vitamin D, evening primrose oil, or DIM may also be considered for cyclical symptoms. Avoid combining it with hormonal contraceptives, dopamine-affecting medications or fertility treatments without clinician guidance. For the stated anti-aging and DNA repair goal, choose different products such as NMN or NR, resveratrol or pterostilbene, CoQ10 or ubiquinol, quercetin, fisetin, and alpha-lipoic acid, ideally with a healthcare provider's input.
Possible side effects: Studies reported only mild side effects and no serious adverse events. General chasteberry user reviews, not specific to this product, mention lowered libido, weight gain and changed or irregular bleeding in some people.
