Study, Trial or Testing Result Summary

Members OnlyHuman studies

No study in people has tested algal oil for reversing aging or for cell and genetic repair, so no effective human dose is known. All of the evidence so far comes from animals. In mice fed a high-fat diet for 8 weeks, an omega-3-rich algae oil lowered bad cholesterol and liver fat, raised good cholesterol, and reduced liver injury and oxidative stress [1]. In another high-fat diet mouse study, a calcium form of algal oil omega-3 improved cholesterol, cut liver fat and raised antioxidant markers more than standard omega-3 did [2]. In a small early study, piglets born to mothers given algal oil or fish oil during pregnancy showed somewhat better energy production in liver cells [3]. Two pig studies found lower genetic repair enzyme activity in newborn piglet livers, by about 32 percent in one. The authors read this as a sign of less oxidative damage to genetic material, but the meaning of this result is unclear [4][5]. These are early signals in animals, not proof that this product slows or reverses aging in people. Animal and cell studies are never counted.

RAL Summary

Members OnlyTier 4 for Healthy Aging

Only animal studies support algal oil for this goal, with no human trials and no reviews counted, so the evidence is thin and it stays at the emerging tier [1][2].

  • Emerging: not enough evidence to rank higher yet.
