This product gives 125 micrograms of vitamin D3 a day, a full dose compared with the studies. It is above the usual daily upper limit, so members can take less. In people with type 2 diabetes, two large pooled analyses found that vitamin D modestly lowered fasting blood sugar, the long-term blood sugar marker and insulin resistance. The effect was largest in people who were low in vitamin D, overweight, or taking high doses over a short time [1][2]. In adults with prediabetes, three placebo-controlled trials over about 3 years found 15% less new diabetes and a better chance of blood sugar returning to normal [3]. In pregnant women, 53 trials found about 36% less pregnancy diabetes [4]. Not all results agree. A large trial of 22,220 older adults taking 2000 units a day for about 5 years found no clear drop in diabetes risk, though pooling it with earlier trials showed a modest benefit [5]. Another pooled analysis in people with prediabetes found no change in fasting blood sugar or the long-term marker, though the glucose tolerance test improved [6]. Animal and cell studies are never counted.

Biohacker Summary

Members Only0 of 10 recommend it
0 of 10 biohackers on our panel recommend it

Vitamin D3 is the main ingredient here, and the panel is largely in favor: six of the ten recommend it or say they take it, and the rest are neutral, with none saying they stopped. People take it for immune support, brain and mood, bone health, muscle, and general health or longevity, and several say most people are deficient and should have their blood levels tested. Doses vary widely: three of them take 5,000 IU in the morning, while one suggests at least 10,000 IU daily, especially in winter, and others stress taking it in fall and winter when sun is limited. Two of them point out that it is fat soluble and absorbs better with dietary fat, and several pair it with vitamin K2, with magnesium also mentioned once. The one caution is that one panelist says there is little point in supplementing for most goals unless you are actually deficient.
