Under Benefits, the page lists that the product helps reduce oxidative stress, supports healthy detoxification, promotes liver cell protection, and is gluten free, soy free, and dairy free. The Health Goal category assigned on the page is Digestive Health. The Warnings section says the product should not be used if you have a history of hypersensitivity to any of the ingredients, and that pregnant or nursing individuals should consult a health professional before use. The page also includes a note that Thorne Research products are not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent disease, and that the availability of the product does not constitute an endorsement, recommendation, prescription, or approval by Mayo Clinic or its medical staff. It adds that people directed to a specific product by a healthcare provider should follow that guidance, and that questions about whether a product is appropriate for individual care needs should be directed to a healthcare provider. Siliphos is silybin, the main part of milk thistle extract, bound to phosphatidylcholine. This product gives 540 milligrams a day, above the studied amount. A 2025 review pooling 55 randomized trials with 3,545 people with liver injury found milk thistle extract lowered two main liver enzymes, with larger effects at doses under 400 milligrams and courses of 2 months or less [1]. A 2017 review of 8 trials with 587 people with fatty liver found the same enzyme drop [2]. In a 12-month placebo-controlled trial of 179 people with fatty liver, silybin bound to phosphatidylcholine and taken with vitamin E improved liver enzymes, insulin resistance and liver tissue [3]. In 170 people with cirrhosis, the extract taken for up to 2 years improved 4-year survival, 58% versus 39%, mainly in alcohol-related and milder disease [4]. Older reviews of 1,088 and 915 people with alcohol-related or hepatitis liver disease found no change in deaths, complications or liver tissue, though most of those trials were low quality [5][6]. Most of this research used the general milk thistle extract rather than this exact bound form. Animal and cell studies are never counted.

Across the stores, Thorne Siliphos carries about 1,074 ratings, and the feedback is strongly positive. Every review with a star rating gives 4 or 5, with buyers praising the brand's quality, ease of use and gentleness on the stomach. Note that one store page shows a single one-star rating with no written text, so its reason is unknown. **What buyers say it did for them:** Several people report feeling a benefit, some quickly and some after a month. One wrote, "Feeling better after only 5 days of use." Another said, "Keeps my liver enzymes in check." A third reported it "is working so well" and moved to a subscription. One reviewer admitted that, apart from a blood test, they can't be sure it works, and another plans a lab test in the future. The early impressions come from a small group, so treat them as early reports and not proof of long-term results. **What buyers complain about:** There is almost nothing negative. The only complaint is cost, in a four-star review titled "Doctors recommend, but expensive." The store summary found no complaints about taste, capsule size, side effects or delivery in the written feedback it covered. **Taste, smell, pill size and form:** Reviewers describe the capsules as easy to take. One review is titled "Small and easy to swallow," and another says "Easy to take. No aftertaste." One reviewer said it "does not bother my stomach like other brands." **Value for money:** Price is mentioned only once, as the "expensive" in that four-star review title. Others imply the cost is justified by quality, such as "Don't waste money on cheap milk thistle, this one works." Beyond that, the reviews say little about value. **Trust in the brand:** This is the most common theme. People call Thorne "a company you can trust" and "a quality company." One said, "My doctor recommends this brand as being high quality." Another switched from a brand "not as pure or thoroughly tested." Some of this trust is stated as faith, not evidence. One buyer wrote, "Thorne wouldn't sell it if it didn't work." A store summary also notes that one review was incentivized, and another came from thorne.com. **Who it seems to suit:** It seems to suit people who want a milk thistle supplement from a reputable maker, those with sensitive stomachs, and those who watch their liver health, perhaps with a doctor's guidance. It also suits buyers who like a small capsule with no aftertaste. Several are repeat Thorne customers. Nobody reported that it failed to suit them, though the sole one-star rating has no explanation. Buyers who put price first may find it expensive. This summary covers the capsules only. Reviews of other forms of the product were left out.

RAL Summary
Members OnlyTier 4 for Liver Health
The rules graded this as proven not to work, but the larger and newer reviews show lower liver enzymes, and the negative reviews were mostly low-quality trials that looked at other outcomes, so the studies disagree rather than show failure. So it is graded Tier 4, as the studies disagree.
- Emerging: not enough evidence to rank higher yet.
Where the evidence disagrees: 11 of the 38 human studies found no effect.

Body systems: Digestive system, Liver
Combine with: For liver health, Siliphos pairs well with N-acetylcysteine (NAC) or liposomal glutathione to support glutathione production and detoxification, alpha-lipoic acid for antioxidant recycling, and TUDCA or phosphatidylcholine for bile flow and liver cell membrane support. Choline, taurine, and B vitamins (methylated folate, B12) can support fat metabolism in the liver, and omega-3 fish oil may help with liver fat. If the user still wants cellular and DNA repair support, they could add separate products such as NMN or NR (NAD+ precursors) with trans-resveratrol or pterostilbene, CoQ10 or PQQ for mitochondrial support, and magnesium, zinc, and vitamin D as cofactors for DNA repair enzymes. Consult a healthcare provider, particularly if taking medications metabolized by the liver.
Possible side effects: Buyers describe it as gentle on the stomach, but in 3 people with advanced liver cancer a high dose of 2 grams daily was followed by worse liver tests.
