MYOGENIX AfterShock Pina Colada Review
AfterShock Pina Colada by MYOGENIX is a powder dietary supplement listed in the NIH Dietary Supplement Label Database with a label dated July 24, 2015. The label presents it as a post-workout product for muscle growth and recovery, built around the idea of an anabolic window, described on the label as a 30 minute period immediately after exercise when the body is primed for muscle growth if given the proper nutrients. The maker says AfterShock contains nutrients important for muscle growth, glycogen replenishment and recovery. The label directs users to mix one serving (80 grams) with 12 to 16 oz of water and consume immediately after exercising, and it lists 15 servings per container. For Total Body Transformation the label suggests using Hyper Shock Rage pre-workout and MyoLean Evolution. Per serving the label lists 290 calories, 34 grams of protein, 35 grams of total carbohydrates including 17 grams of sugar, and 1.5 grams of total fat. The Supplement Facts panel includes 17 active ingredients: vitamins A, C, E, thiamine, riboflavin, niacin, B6, folate, B12 and pantothenic acid, sodium, potassium, a proprietary AMINO STACK blend of 8 grams containing MagnaPower magnesium creatine chelate, magnesium glycyl glutamine chelate, L-glutamine and L-norvaline, and a joint support blend of 1.5 grams with glucosamine sulfate, chondroitin sulfate and MSM. The label gives exact amounts for 13 of the 17 active ingredients. Other ingredients include a fast absorption protein blend, Glycogenx, cane, flavors, citric acid, potassium and sodium citrate, turmeric color, sucralose, beta-carotene and alpha lipoic acid. The label says it contains milk, shellfish and soy, and it is made in a facility that processes milk, soy, eggs and wheat. The page notes that some ingredient interactions are rated major, including retinoids with vitamin A, levodopa with magnesium, and a med with glucosamine. The page also shows no drug price, customer ratings or written reviews. Statements on the label have not been approved by the FDA. The page is an educational summary and not a grade or test of the product.

Study, Trial or Testing Result Summary
Members Only182 human studies · 68 improved
5 of these 182 human studies gave the ingredient by drip or injection, not by mouth.
The amino stack is the main ingredient at 8 grams. Trials of essential amino acids, sometimes with whey protein, often added lean mass, especially in older or ill adults [1][2]. A review of 15 trials found little added benefit on top of resistance training [3]. These studies did not test this stack's creatine chelate, glutamine and norvaline mix. Vitamin C at 1000 milligrams is a full dose, but a pooled analysis of nine strength training trials found no help for lean mass or strength [4]. Taken with vitamin E, it blunted gains in lean mass or strength in some trials [5][6]. Vitamin A reaches a full dose at two servings a day, but the only supportive trial used a blend in 19 people [7]. Vitamin A alone was not shown to build muscle [8]. Folate is at a full dose, but only one small trial tested it alone [9]. Niacin reaches a full dose at two servings a day, and its trial results were mixed [10][11]. Thiamine and riboflavin are at trace doses. Potassium did not build muscle in trials [12]. The joint support blend is hidden in a blend and has no studies here. Animal and cell studies are never counted.

The Amazon page for MYOGENIX AfterShock Pina Colada shows 1 rating in total, and the themes below come from the single written review that could be read on that page, so no broader pattern can be drawn. What the buyer praises: The reviewer is a verified buyer who says they have used the product for years, which suggests long-term repeat use rather than a one-off purchase. They call it a great post-workout drink, so it is being used as a recovery product after training. They also specifically note that it blends easily, which points to a powder that mixes without much trouble. What the buyer complains about: Nothing. The review contains no criticisms or drawbacks. The page's single 5-star rating is the only rating shown, and it matches the positive tone of the written comments. Who it seems to suit: Based only on this one review, it appears to suit someone who trains regularly and wants a drink to have after workouts, and who values a powder that mixes smoothly. This is one customer's experience, so it should not be treated as a guide to who the product suits in general. Taste, form and value: The review does not mention flavour or taste, so it says nothing about how the Pina Colada flavour actually tastes. It also does not mention protein content, price, or value for money. The only point about form is that the powder blends easily. The page did not carry reviews of other forms of the product, such as gummies or capsules, so nothing had to be left out on that account. Overall: With one rating and one written review, all that can be said is that a long-term verified buyer rates it 5 stars, likes it as a post-workout drink, and finds it easy to blend. Because the sample is a single review, these comments reflect one person's experience and should not be read as representative of the wider customer base for the Pina Colada flavour or any other flavour. Anyone wanting to know about taste, sweetness, texture beyond mixing, protein content, side effects or value would need to look at more reviews elsewhere, since this page offers no evidence on those points.
Biohacker Summary
Members Only9 of 10 recommend it
Vitamin C is the ingredient the panel talks about most, and most of them recommend or use it. They take it for collagen, skin, joints, gums and immune support, and several suggest pairing it with collagen, with one advising it about an hour before a workout. One person takes 250 milligrams, another cites 500 milligrams to 1 gram in orthopedic data, one applies it after showering, and one panelist stopped. Amino acids come up with three of them, who use or recommend them for faster absorption than whey, for skin, and for protecting muscle, while a few mention vitamins A, E and B12 less often. Potassium is a smaller ingredient in this product, and the panel mostly favors getting enough of it, often from food or electrolyte drinks, though one warns about potassium bromate in bread.
