Vitamin D is the best-supported ingredient here. Each serving gives 500 units, and the two daily servings members are told to take reach the 1000 units that worked in studies. In people with type 2 diabetes, two large pooled analyses found vitamin D modestly lowered fasting blood sugar, the long-term blood sugar marker and insulin resistance, most in people low in vitamin D [1][2]. In adults with prediabetes it cut the risk of developing diabetes by 15% over about 3 years [3]. In pregnant women it lowered the risk of pregnancy diabetes by about 36% [4]. However, a large 5-year trial of older adults found no significant drop in diabetes risk [5], and another pooled analysis in prediabetes found no change in fasting blood sugar [6]. Calcium is at a full dose, but most of its support comes from calcium taken with vitamin D, so its own effect is unclear. Combined vitamin D and calcium lowered fasting insulin and insulin resistance in men [7] and lowered fasting blood sugar in pregnant women [8][9]. Vitamin K is well below the studied dose of 360 micrograms, so the trials showing lower blood sugar at that dose [10] may not apply here. Animal and cell studies are never counted.

Biohacker Summary

Members Only0 of 10 recommend it
0 of 10 biohackers on our panel recommend it

Vitamin D is the main ingredient here, and nearly the whole panel speaks well of it: about half recommend it and several more say they take it themselves, while a few stay neutral, with one saying it only makes sense for most people if they are deficient. People take it for immune health, brain and mood, bone health, muscle, and heart health, and several suggest testing blood levels, with targets that range from about 40 up to 100 nanograms per milliliter. Doses mentioned are 5,000 international units of vitamin D3 each morning for three of them, at least 10,000 in winter for one, and extra supplementing in fall and winter when sun is limited, and one advises taking it with dietary fat for better absorption. Vitamin K, also a main ingredient, gets support from several who take or recommend vitamin K2, with doses of 90 to 100 micrograms each morning, and they pair it with vitamin D to help keep calcium in the bones and support arteries. No one on the panel said they stopped taking either one, and the only cautions were about timing with fat and checking levels rather than guessing.

RAL Summary

Members OnlyTier 4 for Blood Sugar

Human studies give mixed but real support for vitamin D and for vitamin D with calcium on blood sugar [1][5], but there are no reviews to confirm results, so it stays emerging.

Take 2 servings a day (2 tablets) to match the dose that worked in the studies.

  • Emerging: not enough evidence to rank higher yet.
