Each serving gives 200 mg of coenzyme Q10, a full dose compared with the amounts studied. In 100 healthy trained adults, 200 mg a day of ubiquinol, a form of coenzyme Q10, for two weeks lowered exercise-related oxidative damage, including DNA damage, compared with placebo [1]. In 40 patients with early sepsis, 200 mg a day for a week lowered markers of inflammation and oxidative damage [2]. In 33 healthy adults, 50 or 150 mg a day for 12 weeks reduced wrinkles and fine lines but did not change skin hydration [3]. A four-year trial in 403 older adults low in selenium gave coenzyme Q10 together with selenium, so its effects cannot be credited to coenzyme Q10 alone. It raised a selenium protein linked to longer telomeres, less inflammation and lower death rates [4]. A review of 20 trials in women with ovarian aging found coenzyme Q10 worked best among antioxidants for egg retrieval and pregnancy rates [5]. However, in 40 healthy older adults, 400 mg a day for 12 weeks raised blood levels but did not improve muscle energy, blood sugar control or fitness [6]. No study measured a reversal of biological age. Animal and cell studies are never counted.

Biohacker Summary

Members Only0 of 10 recommend it
0 of 10 biohackers on our panel recommend it

Coenzyme Q10 is the main ingredient here, and the panel leans favorable: of the eight who spoke on it, three say they take it daily and several others recommend it, mostly to support the mitochondria (the cell's energy producers), energy, fatigue, and heart health. Doses named were 100 to 400 mg, 200 to 400 mg and up to 1200 mg for some people, and 300 mg daily from two panelists, with one advising taking it with a fat-containing dinner. Some prefer the ubiquinol form, one favors crystal-free forms for better absorption, and one pairs it with PQQ; several also note it can come from foods like organ meats and fatty fish. Many link it to meds lowering the body's supply, though one says there is no good data it prevents muscle symptoms from meds, and another says there is no real evidence it extends lifespan. One panelist stopped taking it in search of an easier solution, and one noted that major heart organizations do not recommend taking it alongside meds.

RAL Summary

Members OnlyTier 4 for Healthy Aging

Tier 2 needs over 100 reviews with two thirds positive, but no reviews were counted, and one key study paired coenzyme Q10 with selenium, so the record supports only thin evidence at tier 4. So it is graded Tier 4, lower than the rules alone gave.

  • Emerging: not enough evidence to rank higher yet.

Where the evidence disagrees: 4 of the 25 human studies found no effect.
