Study, Trial or Testing Result Summary
Members Only2 human studies · 0 improved
1 of these 2 human studies gave sam-e by drip, not by mouth.
This product supplies S-adenosylmethionine at 400 milligrams a day, which is below the doses used in the studies we found. No study tested it for building muscle in healthy people who do strength training, and no study measured muscle size or growth. Two small placebo-controlled trials in people with fibromyalgia looked at muscle strength. In one, 44 people took 800 milligrams a day by mouth for six weeks. Pain, fatigue and stiffness improved compared with a dummy pill, but muscle strength did not change [1]. In the other, 34 people received 600 milligrams a day by vein for 10 days. It had no effect on muscle strength or tender points compared with a dummy treatment [2]. Neither trial reported the share of people who improved. Together these studies give no sign that it helps build muscle, but they were small, short, in a different group of people and used higher doses, so they cannot show for certain that it does not work for this goal. No customer reviews could be read for this product. Animal and cell studies are never counted.

RAL Summary
Members OnlyTier 4 for Muscle and Strength
Tier 5 needs good human studies showing it does not work for muscle building, but the only two trials were small, in people with fibromyalgia, measured only strength rather than muscle growth, and did not test healthy people doing strength training, so the evidence is thin rather than negative. So it is graded Tier 4, as the studies disagree.
- Emerging: not enough evidence to rank higher yet.
Where the evidence disagrees: 2 of the 2 human studies found no effect.
