Study, Trial or Testing Result Summary
Members Only120 human studies · 63 improved
3 of these 120 human studies gave the ingredient by drip or injection, not by mouth.
Chondroitin sulfate reaches the studied dose only at 3 servings a day. Pooled studies of knee arthritis found less pain and better function, with results varying between brands [1][2], and long-term trials found less joint narrowing [3][4]. However, large trials of 1,583 and 662 people found no clear pain benefit over placebo [5][6]. Manganese reaches a full dose at 2 servings a day, but it was only ever tested mixed with other ingredients. A glucosamine, chondroitin and manganese mix helped mild to moderate knee arthritis but not severe disease [7][8]. Glucosamine sulfate is well below the studied dose, at 250 mg a day versus 1500 mg. Its own evidence is mixed: some trials found less pain and narrowing [3][9], while others found no benefit [10][11]. Vitamin C and potassium are present only in trace amounts. Better studies found vitamin C does not help joints [12][13]. Animal and cell studies are never counted.

Buyers who left reviews are very happy with Nature's Blend Glucosamine Chondroitin Complex, with every starred review giving 4 or 5 stars. Across the stores that sell it, it carries about 11 ratings in total. The reviews are short, and there are few of them, so this is a small sample. **What buyers say it did for them:** Reviewers say it works for their joints. One calls it "Joint Relief" and says the "Product works", and another says simply "Helps the joints!" A longer review says "I have not found another glucosamine chondroitin as effective as Nature's Blend." Another says it "Works great" and is easy to use. None of the reviews describe how much relief they got or how long it took. **What they complain about:** There are no complaints in these reviews. The one difficulty mentioned is availability. One buyer could only find it at a Kaiser pharmacy until they found it at Swanson. **Taste, smell, pill size or form:** Comments are brief but positive. One reviewer says the "pills are easy to swallow", and another says "The tadte is fine." No one mentions a smell. The reviews cover the capsule form only, and any reviews of other forms (gummies, powder) were left out. **Value for money:** Price comes up often and in a positive way. One buyer says the "price is comparable". Another buys from Swanson because it is "less than retail cost" and can often use a discount or coupon to lower it further. A third says it "Saves me money" and that they are on a limited budget. Most of this praise is for the price at Swanson specifically, not for the product's price everywhere. **Who it seems to suit and who it did not:** It seems to suit people looking for a glucosamine and chondroitin supplement for their joints, particularly those who watch their budget and shop for deals. One long-time user stuck with it over other brands they tried. The reviews do not name anyone it did not suit, and they say little about the buyers' ages, health conditions or activity levels. Given the small number of reviews and their uniformly positive tone, it is hard to say how well it works for people in general. Still, those who wrote in found it effective, easy to take and affordable.
Biohacker Summary

The panel said nothing about glucosamine or chondroitin, the main ingredients here, so there is no group view on them. All ten spoke about the smaller ingredients, mainly vitamin C, which most of the panel recommends or uses, for collagen and joints, skin, immune support and antioxidant protection. Pairing vitamin C with collagen came up several times, one panelist takes 250 mg daily, one cautioned that high doses may blunt the benefits of exercise, and one stopped using a vitamin C skin serum because of its smell. Potassium is another smaller ingredient in this product; several panelists recommend getting enough, some use electrolyte drinks, and one favors food sources such as bananas and potatoes over supplements.

Body systems: Musculoskeletal system
Combine with: For joint support, glucosamine and chondroitin pair well with MSM for connective tissue and inflammation comfort, and with collagen type II (UC-II) or hydrolyzed collagen peptides for cartilage structure. Turmeric (curcumin with piperine) and omega-3 fish oil provide anti-inflammatory support, while vitamin D3 with K2 and magnesium support bone and joint health. Vitamin C aids collagen synthesis. If thyroid health is a genuine concern, use a separate product with selenium, zinc, and iodine only as appropriate, and consult a healthcare provider and have thyroid labs checked first. Note that glucosamine is often derived from shellfish, and people on meds such as a med should check with their doctor before use.
Possible side effects: Glucosamine caused no more side effects than placebo, and chondroitin was well tolerated in studies. One mineral tablet containing manganese had a side effect rate of 14.4%.
